Wayne Rolan Melton for Reno City Council  2008

My husband Wayne ran for Reno City Council against Dave Aiazzi, a twelve year incumbent.

We both did our damndest to give him a run for his money. At least we made him work. As with my campaign, it is very difficult to unseat the money. Aiazzi had so much money from special interests.

I was proud of Wayne. He ran a good campaign, with the Reno City firemen and the police endorsing him.  Running for public office is a wonderful experience. You learn soon enough who your friends are. The best lessons learned is human behavior.

Patty Melton For Reno City Council 2004

I ran for Reno City Council against Dave Aiazzi, an eight year incumbent.

Wow! All I can say now looking back was I had a great experience. At the time it was a lot of hard work. Being that I am in marketing I handled all the design and marketing for the campaign as well as handling Wayne's campaign. A big part of campaign expenses has to do with marketing.

I was very close to winning. I got 48.9 percent of the votes.

On the campaign trail. I don't know what I would have done without the help and support I got from Cheryl Andrews. Cheryl had just retired and I put her to work. We look back and laugh at all the fun times we spent working our butts off.
