While spending time at Zephyr Cove the last week in August, I was commissioned to do a painting for a couple who own a summer cottage in this historic part of Lake Tahoe.

They wanted something sketchy, not the detailed look I normally do for clients.

I must admit I like this style also.  They want to produce cards with the cottage on the front.  I still have a few details I need to put in the painting this week and need to get this painting off to get a good scan and get printer costs.

In this section I will be showing work that I am doing . Or, I might just have something to say. If friends and family want to see what is happening in my life.

I was going to try and put Tula their black Labrador on the steps in front of the cottage, but it just didn't work. I took such a nice picture of her that I decided I would paint her as a birthday gift for her wonderful owner.

I have been busy with Wayne's campaign and have not worked on my art at all.

I did take a trip to Rhyolite Nevada for an art's weekend with my granddaughter Hannah. We had so much fun . I took photos for my series
" Off Nevada Roads" and " I Love Nevada". The road trip through Esmeralda, Nye and Mineral counties was wonderful.  The best time of year to travel the Nevada by-ways is fall.

I am looking forward to getting back to my painting.

I have two portraits I need to get started on.......  I need to finish Eva and Tom. I feel bad because I really do want to get them taken care of. But I have been busy making a living. I have been working on designing book covers and helping my husband Wayne get his own book to the publisher. I designed the text pages and Margie Enlow and myself designed the cover. Margie and I also worked on two other cover designs for Wayne's ghost writing books.

I also have to get an art piece ready for exhibition for the Nada Dada Show in Las Vegas in January. And I need to get my limited edition Valentine ready for Valentines Day. So, I will not start working on these portraits until February.

Tom....
I gave a commissioned portrait to the Opera for a fundraiser some 7 years ago. The parents of Tom bought the auction item. They were to have used it within a year.  Finally, this year I got to have a sitting with Tom. After talking with him, I knew exactly how I wanted to paint him. He is a Nevada boy and we went  to Winnimucca Ranch  where he shot his first dear. I took 100 photos of him.
This photo is not the photo I will be using for the portrait. I am glad we waited to do the portrait. Tom has turned into a fine looking fellow. I look forward to painting his portrait.
Eva....
I took many pictures of Eva this spring.
This is not the photo I will be working from.
I was hoping to get to her portrait by now. I have a real hard time  painting when I know I have financial obligations. This portrait will be a gift to her mother Maureen. Again, I feel bad about not getting this portrait done.
We finally got back the first proof of Wayne's new book. Going through the publishing process is  an experience. We got back our first full book proof yesterday the 3rd of January. Seeing as how I sent them the uploaded files last Monday. I think that is remarkable. Wayne and I found some mistakes, I corrected them and uploaded the new files back to them today. We will get another proof at the end of the week. Hopefully it will look OK and we can then enter the book in Amazon, and other outlets. This process is very exciting. Wayne is now working on his second book that we hope to get to the printer by the first of February.

Where did the month of February go?
I worked on my Valentines.  I have been giving out limited edition prints for 10 years now. I address and write notes on 100 of these valentines. I hope people like them because this is an expensive and time consuming process.

I get a handful of people thanking me for them. But with the expense now of mailing. I am not quite so sure if it is worth it. Plus the printing is expensive as are the envelopes. Might have to think this process.

I did the production of another of Wayne's books. It has been published and we still need to buy the ISBN number to have it go onto Amazon and Barnes and Nobel.

I have also been busy with the design and layout of one of Wayne's ghost writing projects.

Plus, I really am enjoying making videos. I love learning. Technology is so much fun. I am seeing how Facebook and other ways of using the Internet is a great marketing tool and better than using postcards that cost for printing and mailing.

We live in a different world for communicating.

As of August 20....  work in progress. In this video you will see my studio where I work.
